Discover his/her biography
The skipper Thomas Ruyant knows how to win. His latest victory (IMOCA category) to date: the 12th edition of the Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe, the Queen of solo transatlantic races. A beautiful victory on board the LinkedOut sailboat, the network of those who don't have one.
Little by little, patiently, in his own way, with his own will, the Dunkerque native has built a multi-faceted life as a sailor, not only in terms of sport, but also in terms of business and society. In addition to the maturation of the most sophisticated technical projects around the construction of increasingly high-performance ocean-going yachts, Thomas adds meaning and impact to his profession, his life, and his actions. Long gone are the days when the young Dunkirk-based Ruyant prepared other people's boats and dreamed only of solo confrontations on the Atlantic. His playground is now global, with a third Vendée Globe on the horizon in 2024. He is now investing in the innumerable ramifications of an increasingly demanding sport, which is nevertheless adorned with aspects and implications anchored in the strongest societal issues of the moment, inclusion, the environment, the company and its meaning.
Meeting Alexandre Fayeulle, a visionary entrepreneur from the North of France, was a trigger; Thomas is convinced that sailing, maritime adventure and sports are powerful tools to promote great causes. His navigations are now used as flags for bigger issues, stronger than simple sporting satisfaction. Never satisfied with victories and adventures, the sailor from the North, in love with the Solitaire, knows that he will never again be truly isolated on the ocean, carrying hopes and messages of universal commitment that are unfailingly linked to his sporting ambitions.
At the head of TR Racing, the racing team founded in 2018, Ruyant is moving forward in control, surrounded by men and women in his image, passionate, involved, inhabited. A first victory in the Imoca class has confirmed that his approach is the right one. Ruyant, without jerks, without bluster, simple and sincere, has become the master of his time, the captain of a well thought-out path towards his multiple objectives.
