Paul Duan is a renowned social entrepreneur and data scientist, widely recognized as a pioneer of the "tech for good" movement. After leaving a promising data science career in Silicon Valley, he founded Bayes Impact in 2014, an NGO that leverages AI for the social sector. The solutions developed by Bayes Impact have impacted millions of beneficiaries in domains ranging from employment to healthcare, including building the French national Covid notification system.
Paul is one of the leading figures in the European tech for good scene and has inspired the creation of several national government programs in France aimed at facilitating collaboration between the public sector and civil society. His work has received numerous accolades: he was named an Ashoka Fellow, Forbes 30 under 30, MIT 35 under 35, and an Aspen Institute Young Leader.
He studied mathematics, economics, and political science at the University of Berkeley (receiving the Berkeley-Sciences Po Prize in Economics), Sciences Po Paris, and the Sorbonne.
